Diane Clark

Diane Clark

Diane Clark started playing the bass at 16 for no more romantic reason than the school orchestra needed her, and her hands were big enough. She went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama and later as a postgraduate with Duncan McTier and Corin Long.

In 1994 Diane started playing with the Scottish Ensemble. She also spent ten years working freelance in London, playing regularly with The Academy of St.Martin in the Fields, Covent Garden Orchestra, English National Opera, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Mozart Players, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and The Philharmonia.

Working in London gave Diane the opportunity to play on various film scores, including Lord of the Rings. She has also played with the band Travis as well as work for TV.

Diane has now moved to Derbyshire and works regularly with all the orchestras in the North West of England, including the BBC Philharmonic and the Hallé. In 2009 she was appointed co-principal bass with Manchester Camerata.
