Wired

Calling all secondary school musicians in Aberdeen!
Wired is our new education project which will take place in Aberdeen throughout the £10:11/12 Season.  If you've ever wanted to find out more about how our musicians rehearse, or perhaps about how composers go about beginning a piece, then these workshops will tell you all you need to know.

The sessions will run in parallel to this season's main concerts.  In the afternoon before a performance, an interactive workshop will give an introduction to key aspects of the concert to come.  These sessions will involve discussions and group activities designed to give a deeper understanding of the music being performed.  Then, after the workshop has finished, there is the chance to see the Ensemble perform live - you are encouraged to bring their parents along to the evening performance so as to enjoy the music together.

During the workshops, you will have the chance to:

  • Watch the Ensemble in rehearsal and concert environments
  • Meet the Ensemble musicians and chat to them about both the music and the experience of performing it
  • Develop composition, arranging and performing techniques
  • Learn about the music and it's history
  • Meet soloists and composers in an informal setting

Wired workshops and concert tickets are free but places are limited.  The project is open to any secondary school student who has a keen interest in music so if you play an instrument or sing then ask your music teacher about the project or contact our Projects Manager, Pippa Barnwell on pippa.barnwell@scottishensemble.co.uk
